We can help you evaluate your needs, and then you decide whether to purchase or lease the right equipment to protect your home.

For $5.50 per month added to your CAEC electric bill, you can get exceptional protection with our four-year lease program.

Lightning can damage or destroy appliances, such as stoves and refrigerators, as well as electronics, such as computers, TVs, VCRs, DVDs and microwaves. Nearly all electrically operated home devices have computer chips in them, which make them very susceptible to damage from lightning and other disturbances.

CAEC’s Power Quality Plus provides a way for you to halt high voltage. For example, lightning can enter your home several ways. CAEC can provide a barrier to lightning on the main pathways: electric, phone and TV lines.

Meter Base Unit

The meter base unit is recommended for all homes because it is the first line of defense against lightning strikes. It protects your “white appliances,” such as stoves, refrigerator, air conditioners, heat pumps, washer, dryer, etc. Additionally, for product warranties to be in full force, the meter base unit is required. Think of it as the outside walls of a castle.

This Homeguard unit mounts between your home and our meter. We test the grounding at your home and install the unit as a part of the price. If your home needs to be grounded, there is an additional $25 charge.

Home Office/Computer Strip

This power strip provides you with protection inside your home, plus you connect your modem, answering machine, fax machine etc. to the strip. This provides you with protection should a lightning strike try to enter via the phone lines.

You can plug in your fax, scanner, monitor, computer and printer to protect multiple home electronics.

If you just need to protect an answering machine or phone, a less expensive plug with phone jack is available.

Home Entertainment Strip

This power strip will handle your TV, VCR, DVD, radio, CD player etc. In addition to stopping surges on the electric lines, it is equipped with coax jacks to stop surges coming in from your cable, satellite or antenna system. It has a phone jack as well, which you need to protect your system if you have satellite TV.

This is highly recommended if you have or can have your electronics plugged into the same strip.

Plug Cube

These simple, inexpensive plugs are great for protecting individual appliances such as garage door openers and microwaves.

Each family will need to determine where these might be best put to use, and you can call us to discuss what you have in your home.

We recommend them for garage door openers and microwaves, if the microwave is built in, costs more than $150 or has features that you especially like.
